Wairepo Wetland Stories - Episode 2
Wairepo Wetland Stories - Episode 2
A minimalist card puzzle game where you work to restore a threatened wetland. Free the area from invasive plants and rubbish, plant trees to create space for a vibrant and thriving ecosystem.
Game inspired by the work of Sonja and Sen in their wetland in Kawakawa New Zealand.
Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems on the planet. They filter water, protect against floods, provide habitat, and storing far more carbon per area than forests.
Wetlands are the Earth's natural carbon sink. They cover just 6% of the Earth's land but store 30% of terrestrial carbon.
Despite their importance, wetlands are disappearing faster than almost any other ecosystem. When wetlands disappear, we lose a natural shield against climate extremes. Floods become more frequent, more severe, and more devastating.
For every hectare of wetland saved, we protect life, biodiversity, and the future of our planet.
Diverse ecosystems are the foundation of life on Earth.
